Stanley Chell Results (or the day it went wrong)

Having climbed through the low cloud and ear popping altitude of the Bwlch we arrived at Trealaw, the venue for the Stanley Chell. Some of us were thinking “this could be our day”.  Round 1, our first success, Dave Edwards’ “Polar Bear on Pack Ice”, the judge loved it “I like Wildlife” she stated and, despite rumours of toys and ice from the freezer, gave it a solid 20 we had arrived !!.  Round 2 and hopes were high, Arfon Johns’ “Suspicious” – a moody low light exterior shot – -  Oh dear 14 pts awarded. Still at the halfway point we were 5th out of 25.  Round 3 – and the whole world just kicked us, Haydn Thomas ” Amroth” – 15 pts ( is this judge mad we all asked – well 3 of us did) our hopes rested in the final round.  We worked it out if Terry Goss could score 32 pts (out of 20) we could win.  His shot  – “Timeless Bugatti” brought back memories of her youth for the judge, so good were her memories she gave it a lovely 11.  Oh dear.  We finished in a miserable 15th place.  Terry was last seen looking for a rope, to end it all and a shotgun for the judge.  Although in what order he uses them we are not too sure.  Don’t wind him up too much………
