Six Way Battle

Tuesday night (24th March) and the Club House was packed to capacity.  Our Annual 6 Way Battle was the reason.  Representatives from Abertawe, Amman Valley, Mumbles & West Cross, Port Talbot and Trostre & Velindre were anxiously awaiting the comments of our judge Diana Ashill LRPS on their best 6 images.  Our opening shot was “Blue Tailed Damselfly” by Terry Goss scoring 17, our second round image was “Clockwork” by Colin Kelly and scored 17.  Round 3 and our entry “Don’t Look Now (Polar Bear & Cub)” scored 15, although how you make a Polar Bear turn round is beyond me but that’s what the judge wanted.  Halftime saw us in joint second place with Amman Valley on 49 points, 1 point behind Port Talbot.  After the buffet and a cuppa we restarted.  Round 4’s image “Going Home” by Haydn Thomas kicked us off with 16 points.  Round 5 and we scored 17 with Julian Brocks “Goth” this was going to be close.  Our final image was “Leaning Tower of Cardiff” by Arfon John and the judge waxed lyrical over it and hit us with a 20 point score.  This was so close it was almost touching.  Next up were our nearest rivals Port Talbot, if they scored 15 we drew, anything less and we won.  The shot was “Testing the Water” and the judge was picking faults with it, this is it …………………..she scored it 16 points.  We had lost by 1 point, but what a finish.  Well done to Port Talbot for winning for the second time in 2 years (don’t expect an invitation next year ….. only joking) and many thanks to all who took part.  Also a big thankyou to all members who helped on the night and donated prizes for the raffle.
