Our first interclub battle was one of the most exciting I have been to. With strong competition from Tenby, Llanelli, Pembrey, Carmarthen and the host Amman Valley this was not going to be easy. The judge Rob Mitchell MA was on good humour with his quips and tales and his comments were clear and concise. The end of the first half saw us in joint first place on 62 pts along with Llanelli, Tenby & Pembrey. Hopes were high in the second half when Linda Cowen scored a magnificent 20 with her ‘Grey Wolves in the Snow’ and by the final round we only needed 15 to draw with Tenby and with Dave Edwards’s ‘Flying Home’ (runaway winner in the silhouettes comp) as our final print we were ready for a win. What a shock! the judge scored it 14 (poor old DE was in tears) and put us in joint second place with Llanelli on 128, one point behind Tenby. Gutted.
